San Jose Sharks Will Pick Second In 2025 NHL Draft
The Sharks have held the second overall pick three times before
The San Jose Sharks will not achieve the feat of securing back-to-back number one overall picks in the NHL Draft, despite entering the draft lottery with the highest odds of winning the top selection at 25.2 percent.
Unfortunately, the lottery results were unfavorable for Team Teal, and they will select second for the fourth time in franchise history.
This draft has a bevy of talented players and doesn’t have a clear standout prize like 2023 with Bedard and last year with Macklin Celebrini. The Sharks are in a great position to select another young difference-maker, either on defense if presumed number one overall pick Matthew Schaefer falls, or another talented forward in Michael Misa or James Hagens.
The draft will occur on Friday, June 27, in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater.
Sidenote: Last night, it was Forgotten Sports staff night at the San Jose Barracuda’s Calder Cup Playoff game against the Colorado Eagles, which the Cuda won 2-1 in overtime. It was a thrilling contest at Tech CU Arena, and the crowd was loud and locked in from the drop of the puck.
